In perhaps one of the most extravagant scenes of scripture, Matthew (26:7) tells us that a woman, whose name was Mary, came to Jesus with a small but expensive alabaster box of ointment and poured it upon him as an offering of her thanks. While others looked on with scorn, the voice of the savior pierced the tense room and declared “She has done a beautiful thing to me (rsv).” Her offering of ointment and tears in that moment was called a memorial for ages to come.
By nature worship is extravagant, because love is. At life church we believe in true worship (Jn. 4:24) , the kind of worship that drove a king to dance (2 Sam 6:14), that propelled a father named Abraham to offer his son (Ge. 22) , that consumed a generation after witnessing God remove their captivity (Ne.9:6).
Worship is Inward, Outward and Upward! All of life is worship!
